Hello Barbara, Just found you website last evening, searching for an area of Skye that I wanted to book a bed and breakfast near, but did not know the exact region. I found it with your pictures of the Gesto Farm. All of Skye is beautiful, but this region is stunning, when it is sunny. Your photos are amazing. I have been to Scotland twice, and having been all over the world for disaster relief and seeing so many different places, I have to say that Scotland has my heart. Your pictures of the Highlands are breathtaking. You inspire me to continue to take photos when I travel. People always tell me my photos are so incredible, but after seeing yours I realize a master when I see her. Keep up the work, and I will check back often. I ordered some of your prints as well. Thank you for showing Scotland to the world. Holly

Looking at your beautiful collection of photographs has really inspired and excited me. We are headed to Scotland in 5 days for our honeymoon and will be visiting many of the areas you have photographed. We purchased the Nikon D5100 with 18mm-200mm Nikkor lens recently and I am very excited to use it for the first time on our trip. I am curious as to which camera you shoot with and are your images manipulated afterwards?

Hi Barbara,

I think everything about your beautiful photography has already been said,,,nothing short of outstanding,,,beauty of nature at it's best.
I'm originally from the Island of Bute but have been in central British Columbia for many years.
I'm retired and my second passion is oil painting, you have so many breathtaking works some of which I would like to paint, with your permission of course.

Kind regards,
David Gourlay,
Kelowna B.C.

Hello Barbara, you might remember me from a little while back, as I was commenting on this superb website. Just to say hope you had a good winter taking your shots, hope the weather was kind to you. Not for me though, I've been laid up with a bad knee injury after falling down my stairs in the house, and as you know I've only got the use of one hand, so I couldn't stop myself once it started, I just tucked my head in and hoped for the best, I've not touched my camera for 10 weeks now, but hae ho I'm sure it won't take to long now.

Cheers

Happy shooting.

Hi Barbara! My fiancee and I have just recently returned from a trip to Skye, and have just taken a search of photos and came across your website. Simply amazing work. Stunning composition. And beautiful subtle HDR editing.
It was my second trip to Skye, and decided to take my girlfriend atop Old Man of Storr during a snowy sunrise on 20th December 2010 and propose to her.
I wish we had more time around Skye to capture the various light and moody skies. Fortunate to see such work from the other side of the world. We'll be back in a few years, and hopefully have more time and opportunity to capture just a small fraction of the landscapes you have.

Hello there.. i was browsing through 20 photography mags on the shelf today and bought Advanced Photographer simply for your breathtaking images of Scotland. I love the 'Isle of Syke' photograph. The colours & detail are amazing, yet it is soft and pleasing on the eye.
36.Julie Arbuckle(non-registered)
Just wanted to say how much I've loved looking at your photos. I have a great love for this part of the world and you obviously do too. It's great to see it interpreted in all it's moody glory. Wish I lived in Wester Ross. Maybe one day...

A Google search for Scottish landscape photography will unearth a plethora of websites selling images of our beautiful country, many of which contain imagery which can, at best, be described as uninspiring and, at worst, of a standard that would have most of us reaching for the “delete” key.

Occasionally, however, one comes across a sparkling gemstone in this sea of mediocrity and Barbara’s website - thoughtfully constructed to exhibit the full range of her considerable talent – is just such; it is a pleasure to view - and view again and again. In particular, her images of the magnificent Isle of Skye – my spiritual home and one of the most photographed of the Hebridean Isles – are nothing short of perfection. Barbara, quite simply, has “the eye”. Well done, kid - I’m proud to have you as a valued photographic colleague and, more importantly, as a dear friend!

Keep clicking Babera, the 'Best of the Best'

I first came to this area when I was about five (1955). My father towed a caravan from south of Glasgow up to Achmelvich Bay. Then drove back and towed up his Shearwater catamaran. At the end of the holiday he did it all in reverse. I fell in love with Achmelvich and Suilven from then. In the 70's I took my wife up to Lochinver and we went into the village hall and had fish and chips. I went out to the phone box to phone my mother and ask her to guess where we were and how good the fish and chips were. When I said I was in Lochinver she said 'make sure you go into the hall and have the fish and chips.' Legend. We went to the hall to watch the cinema when I was up in the 50's (we holidayed at Achmelvich twice). The first time there were only about three caravans including ours and we used to go up to the farm to get milk every morning. It was still warm, straight from the cow. There was no electricity. The second time there were more caravans and a lot of kids. A crew were up there making a film and they asked us kids to come along and make as if a disused building at the back of the bay was a school, which it apparently had been. Sadly, this did not lead to an invitation to Hollywood. In the intervening years I have been up Stac Pollaidh, Cul Mor and Cul Beag and in a near white-out on Conival and Ben More Assynt. I've wodered around Reef, I've walked up the Inver and over to Glencanisp Lodge and I've gone back to look at Achmelvich and Vesty's. I've camped at Achnahaird and stayed at The Naismith's and the Cavers in Elphin and the hostel at Inchnadamph and now I'm wondering if Angela is still there.
The week-end before last I walked over from Elphin to Lochinver with another 5 members of Strathaven Climbing Club. The stags were roaring all morning and we had a beautiful day, just like I had 35 years previously, doing a very similar walk with my wife and her brother ( we saw an adder sunning itself on a sandy bank) and.....Your photoes are quite exceptional and you obviously have great technique and skill as well as a wonderful eye. I will treasure looking at the gallery often and all the wonderful memories they invoke. Thanks ever so much.

I have to say: Your work is inspiring, I thank you so much for writing how you took the shot, I love photoghaphy, but I know nothing about it, I struggle, I try, and try, I hope some day to learn more, phography it's not about money, it's about the pleasure and enjoyment of others that one's photos bring to others, it's seen in one milisecond the hand of God, to see beauty through his eyes, and you capture that beauty, I thank you once more, for sharing your talent to the world, you can capture what one try to remember, it's almost tangible, may you have health, and hapiness always. CNU

Barbara, fantastic shots you have on your site. I'm likeing your HDR, and of course you do live in a special place in the world. I'm in Skye at the moment but I'm not having much luck with the weather this week. I'm a disabled photographer, after a climbing accident in 1999 in Glencoe, when I paralised my left arm, I've just been interested in photography since 2005, please have a look at my own website if you get a bit of time.

Kind regards
